Sexual abuse

Allegations of sexual abuse throughout the country have become an increasing occurrence. Usually, the victimizer is in a position of authority or trust, and the abuse is unreported for several years. Whether those allegations are against a family member, caretaker, clergy, co-worker, or other individual, and whether they involve many years of abuse or one instance, coming forward with such allegations is an emotionally difficult barrier to overcome. Often times, sexual abuse claims are brought against an institution, authority or party who was not directly involved in the abuse, but had a duty to supervise and protect the victim. These lawsuits therefore not only provide some compensation for the immeasurable harm caused to an innocent person, but also typically result in changes of an institution's hiring policies and supervision procedures to minimize the risk of future abuse.

Our attorneys have experience in handling sexual abuse claims. We understand the emotional difficulties involved in deciding to bring and continuing to pursue such a claim. We help victims of sexual abuse and their families obtain the confidence to confront the responsible parties and hold them accountable for the irresponsible harm caused by such predatory conduct.

In pursuing sexual abuse claims, our attorneys strive to make certain that these claims are resolved quickly, in order to allow our clients to move on from these devastating events. However, we also work diligently to ensure that our clients receive the compensation and justice they deserve.

If you or someone you love have been the victim of sexual abuse, you should contact an attorney as soon as possible. Statutes of limitation may ultimately bar the filing of a claim. Additionally, as with any personal injury claim, the longer you wait to bring a claim, the more difficult it becomes to prove.
