Michael D.Wong - Attorney

Michael Wong joined Foote-Meyers in 2010 as an associate attorney and has focused his practice primarily in employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation and unlawful termination cases. He also works with partners Robert M. Foote and Matthew Herman on a variety of civil litigation cases.

As a first generation Chinese-American, Wong has firsthand knowledge of many of the problems his clients in employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation and unlawful termination cases have faced. “Working on my clients cases provided me an opportunity to make sure that people know it is not acceptable to discriminate or harass people based on differences in race, ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, religion, age, disability, or any other basis protected under Illinois and federal laws.”

Since being licensed in 2006, Wong has practiced law in a variety of areas including contract disputes, business litigation, civil-rights, family law, real estate, estate planning and complex litigation ranging across municipal, state, administrative and federal laws. Wong uses his past experiences to help his clients. “My past experiences of clerking for a judge to defending police officers from excessive force claims as a Special Assistant States’ Attorney have helped me see and consider all aspects and sides of a case, which is important when advising clients and developing a strategy to prevail in a case.”

Born in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois in 1980, Wong earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 2003 and graduated cum laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2006. Wong was admitted to practice in Illinois in 2006 and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2008.

Wong is a member of the Kane County Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, ISBA Young Lawyers’ Division, National Employment Lawyer’s Association of Illinois, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. Wong supports organizations and events within the community and Illinois including the Fox Valley Mental Health Foundation, ISBA Young Lawyers’ Division Children’s Assistance Fund and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
